Responsible for directing occupants to the Safe Refuge Area: taking a head count at the Safe Refuge Area and reporting to the Safety Director. Perform systematic search of work area and assist in evacuation. FIRE PRE-EMERGENCY PLANNING: 1. Review General Information: Fire 2. Have updated list of employees. Keep list readily available. 3. Know where flashlights are. 4. Develop an awareness of safety conditions, fire violations, and potential hazards. EMERGENCY ACTIONS: Upon notification of an emergency (by overhead announcement): 1. Grab Emergency Action Plans notebook. 2. Verbally instruct coworkers to exit the building. Remind coworkers to shut their door as they leave. 3. Direct occupants to walk slowly and evacuate the building. They are not to clock out, un-garb or grab coffee or snack. 4. Perform systematic search of work area and check all rooms i.e., restroom, workrooms, offices, etc. before evacuation. 5. Report to the designated Safe Refuge Area. ALL OCCUPANTS WILL WAIT AT THE SAFE REFUGE AREA FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS. Take a head count, and if anyone is missing, report it immediately to the Safety Director. Also report the location of anyone needing assistance. The Safety Director will notify the Fire Department of missing occupants. 6. Remain with employees and await further instructions.
PRE-EMERGENCY PLANNING: 1. Read General Information: Earthquake EMERGENCY ACTIONS - DURING AN EARTHQUAKE: DUCK, COVER & HOLDBrace yourself against a wall, or get under a desk or other sturdy object and hold on. Stay away from windows, bookcases, filing cabinets or anything that may fall.
AFTER AN EARTHQUAKE: 1) Check for injuries and fires. Inspect floor for damage. Check utilities water leakage and electrical shorts. Use caution opening doors. Watch for falling objects. 2) Check all exit paths. Assess conditions and determine the necessity for immediate evacuation. If life threatening, begin evacuation. Generally, it is safer to remain inside the building. 3) If communications are not working, use cell phone to contact Emergency Director if necessary. 4) Keep employees away from windows, and keep them quiet and calm. Restrict use of the phone. Discourage occupants from leaving until authorized. 5) Monitor conditions and await further instructions.
6) Listen to the radio 1620 AM CitiSOUNDS for emergency reports. Keep employees informed to discourage spreading of rumors. 7) Cooperate with all Public Safety Officials. 8) Be prepared to send employees home if extensive damage and after confirmation from Emergency Director. BE PREPARED FOR AFTERSHOCKS. |
